Source Code

Pile of CDs

As each client funds the full cost of the development of their unique solution, the software is fully owned by the client. This means that there are no future licence costs and no restrictions made on the number of copies distributed and used.

All source code is supplied, fully commented and documented after payment of the final invoice, due on acceptance of the software.  Intellectual property rights to all deliverables including source code and executables and all technical and user documentation reside with the client. This is rather rare in the IT market but it does mean that each client can further build, develop or support the software themselves or, as with some customers, clients can resell the software.

The system may contain some library code and the intellectual property rights of this code remains with Dorset Software. Clients are provided with exclusive rights to utilise the code for the purposes of their specific project.
